Welcome to week 4 of “Inspiration vs Reality” or as I like to call it (mostly to save keystrokes), IvsR Wk4. Reminding you who may be new to the series, this is where I take a makeup look created by one of the artists that I follow on Instagram and do my best to replicate it on my 57 yr old face using the products that I have already in my makeup arsenal. Inspiration this week comes from another Bobbi Brown pro who I just love, Hollie Olivia Ellis.
Again, the challenge this week is trying to recreate a look that features product not yet available here in Canada. And beyond that, it’s a palette that I really don’t have a lot of close replicants in my bag of magic. Why choose this look, then? Because it’s GORGEOUS… Hello?! Hollie is definitely channeling spring colours and I’m all for that!

Other than the Luxe Metal Rose Palette that Hollie references in her post, she doesn’t detail much about cheek, liners etc. so I had to wing it a bit. Since I don’t have the palette used in the inspiration, I just played with the colours shown in my pics. From there, I tried to land on a look that I felt was at least similar and most important, colourful. For me, I opted for more gold and bronze shades but used the mauve Long Wearing Cream Eyeshadow Stick to line my eyes. It’s an interesting combination that I never would have tried otherwise so if part of the fun of this is trying new things… check!
Like always, I prepped my skin using Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base & Eye Base first (not shown in the products used) and again (and always) it’s worth reminding you that I am NOT a trained makeup artist.
IvsR Wk4 Takeaways
Clearly I’m still working on being a bit braver in the intensity of my application but this is definitely a stronger look that previous weeks. AND it makes me want to get some of those more pinky/peachy tones which I would not have ventured into prior. The colours Hollie used on her eyes were also all matte and I didn’t have any matte shadows in this colour palette so the shimmer is something that makes a big difference in the final look. I also think it actually diffuses the intensity of the colours a bit too.
Let me know what you think. Always happy to dish!
